I’m a big fan of social media. As a digital marketer, I basically play on Facebook all day for my professional career. Multimedia storytelling is my specialty. One of my goals is to make something “go viral.” Whatever that means…
While I’m on out of the office on maternity leave, I’m trying to keep up with the latest trends. I recently learned how to use Boomerang, Instagram’s newest photo editing app. The easy to use platform integrates with Instagram to make short gif-like videos that play on a loop. They’re fun quick media pieces to add to your social media arsenal. Click here to see a Boomerang I posted on April Fool’s Day of Leigh yawning.
During breakfast one morning, my husband and I were playing around with Snapchat. The app has so many new filters you can apply to make your face funny. The technology is amazingly good at identifying your facial features and turning you into a panda or lion. We got an idea: let’s try them on the baby’s face! So that’s what we did. I never expected the post to go “viral” (not exactly viral, but it’s as close as I’ve gotten!).

Discovered that we can apply @snapchat filters to our baby’s face. @Nemceke #pukingrainbows #parenthood #momlife pic.twitter.com/AjrJcBmHwo

I tweeted this photo and tagged @Snapchat. They retweeted it. And now nearly 70,000 Twitter users have seen Leigh puking rainbows. People from all over the world, including Chile and France, commented on how cute he is. Never underestimate the popularity of baby and pet pics. Everyone loves them!
If you want to see lots of baby snaps, find me on Snapchat. My username is elnemcek. Just for kicks, my Twitter handle is @elnemcek and my Instagram is @lnemcek. I’m also on Pinterest, LinkedIn and just about every other social media site you can think of (besides for Myspace because who uses Myspace???). Follow me!
Was he eating jelly beans?
Hehe!
